The South Korean government says Tokyo relayed an apology last Friday via the Japanese embassy in Seoul. This came after South Korea filed a formal complaint over the distorted way Tokyo announced the decision made the same day, essentially saying Japan won the deal by making zero concessions. An official added the apology included regret the Japan’d trade ministry included unreasonable remarks in its announcement and admitted that Tokyo lied about not saying sorry to Seoul for its dissemination of false information.
